Oak Creek community holds meeting on violence

OAK CREEK (WKOW) -- The Oak Creek community is opening a discussion about gun violence in an effort to stop mass shootings across the country.

Officials headed up a community meeting Saturday evening. Members of the Sikh Temple, interfaith leadership, mental health officials and experts on community violence joined the conversation.

They talked about how to prevent tragedies, like the one there, from happening again.

Earlier in the week, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett joined a summit with other mayors and police chiefs in Minneapolis. They decided that collaboration and greater access to data on firearms could help prevent gun violence.
