MADISON (WKOW) -- A Mishicot man is seriously injured after a car crash on 1-39 near Stoughton.
Emergency officials responded to the crash around 6 p.m. on Sunday when a car traveling south on I-39 made an illegal u-turn in a crossover.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, traffic had to slam on its brakes to avoid striking the car as it slowed down to take the crossover. One of the vehicles that was attempting to slow down lost control and fishtailed into the right lane. A semi in the right lane hit the car broadside.
24-year-old Jack Polifka was transported to UW Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Polifka was not wearing a seatbelt.
The crash is under investigation.
