AUSTIN, TX (WKOW) -- A person familiar with the situation says Lance Armstrong confessed to Oprah Winfrey that he used performance-enhancing drugs to win the Tour de France.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the interview will be broadcast Thursday on Winfrey's network.
Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles in the wake of a U.S. Anti-Doping Agency report accusing him of masterminding a complex and brazen drug program that included steroids, blood boosters and a range of other performance enhancers.
Earlier in the day, Armstrong apologized to staff members of his cancer foundation, Livestrong. A person with knowledge of that meeting says Armstrong did not make a direct confession to the group.
