One person killed in Highway 8 crash Tuesday morning

Barron County (WQOW) - A crash killed a woman in Barron County this morning.

It happened around 6:15 am on highway eight outside the city of Barron. The sheriff's department says the driver of a SUV was passing another vehicle in a no passing zone on a curve and collided with a semi. The driver of the SUV, Cheryl Baglien, died. She was 52 and was from Turtle Lake. A 17-year-old passenger was airlifted the hospital with serious injuries.  The semi driver was not hurt.

Barron County (WQOW) - One person has died in a crash in Barron County.

It happened Tuesday around 6:15 a.m. on Highway 8 just outside the City of Barron. The sheriff's department says the driver of an SUV was passing another vehicle in a no passing zone on a curve and collided with a semi.  

The driver,  Cheryl Baglien, 52, of Turtle Lake died at the scene. A 17-year-old passenger was airlifted to Regions Hospital with serious injuries. The semi driver was not hurt. 

Traffic was detoured for eight hours while the state patrol did crash scene reconstruction.

Barron Co. (WQOW) - Travel Alert: All lanes of traffic on Hwy 8 at Hwy 53 near Barron are blocked due to a crash.

Crews will be in the area for the next several hours so they're suggesting this detour:

Eastbound traffic should take County W east to County O, then south back to Hwy 8. Reverse directions for westbound traffic.
