MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating reports of shots being fired near Traceway Drive.
A number of callers had indicated hearing gun shots around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon. Some information provided indicated the incident may have happened near the intersection of Turbot Drive and Pike Drive. An area of Traceway Drive was also being checked for evidence.
All locations are near Leopold Elementary School, therefore school staff was alerted to the situation.
Rachel Strauch-Nelson, with the Madison Area School District, says the school staff decided to keep the children inside. Classes, however, went on as scheduled. "There was no disruption," Strauch-Nelson stated. She also said school ended on time and buses were on schedule.
Police have no reports of injuries at this time.
