Eleva-Strum (WQOW) - Residents of two area school districts will be asked to approve more spending this spring.
The Eleva-Strum School Board voted this week to ask residents for the okay to exceed revenue limits by $600,000 a year for two years. The money would cover increased operating expenses.
The district has seen a drop in state aid due to declining enrollment. Taxes would rise $125 each year for the owner of a $100,000 home.
In the Blair-Taylor School District, residents will vote on a nearly $17 million project.
The school board voted this week to ask residents to approve adding about 11 classrooms, a gym and an auditorium to the middle and high school. That would allow the district to close the elementary school in Blair, which was built in 1928.
Elementary students would then be moved to the middle and high school building. School officials say taxes would go up $96 a year for the owner of a $100,000 home.
