Four home invasion suspects appear in Rock County Court

JANESVILLE (WKOW) -- Four suspects accused of tying up a couple, threatening them, and then robbing them in their own home made their first court appearance Wednesday. They were arrested Monday after a lengthy police chase in the Wisconsin Dells.

The first court appearance was all about setting some ground work for a very elaborate and violent case involving 26 criminal charges. Each person was tried differently for their unique role in this alleged crime.

As Rock County court officials work their way through a complicated case, four suspects nearly four miles away wait to hear their charges.

"The defendant appears via live video feed from the Rock County jail," says the suspect's defense attorney on the video screen.

The two men, Jesse Adams and Christopher Kimps, both have criminal records serving time in prison.

They each face several felony charges including armed burglary and robbery, theft of guns, false imprisonment and several others.

"They did involve producing weapons that the victims were tied up using duct tape and they were blindfolded using duct tape," says Rock County Judge Kenneth Forbeck.

The two women, Kayla Pearson and Sarah Buckingham, were charged with "party to the crimes." Although their punishments won't be as severe they're still very serious charges.

"She faces a substantial period of incarceration," says Forbeck.

All four suspects were arrested after invading a home in Fulton Township on Friday. Three days later they were located in the Wisconsin Dells by Rock County detectives. After a lengthy police chase and canine search they were finally taken into custody. It's that reckless behavior that convinced the judge that high bail was necessary to make sure they appear for court.

Bail ranged from $30,500 to $48,000 for each suspect. The next appearance is set for January 24th at 4:00 PM.
