MADISON (WKOW) -- A student-run newspaper celebrates 20 years.
Simpson Street Free Press was started in 1992. Students ages 11 to 18 research and write stories for the newspaper, which is published two to three times a year.
SSFP brought back hard copy publishing for its 20th anniversary, but the paper is also available online here.
SSFP has a rigorous after-school program that teach students practical skills in a newsroom. It opened its first after-school academy this past year at Glendale Elementary School and is in the process of establishing another one at Capital Newspapers for James C. Wright Middle School students.
SSFP is also expanding its middle school book clubs.
