Pierce County (WQOW) - A former area teacher convicted of sexually assaulting a student wins a lawsuit filed against her by the boy's father.
Anne Knopf was sentenced in 2008 for having sexual encounters with a 13-year-old student at her home. Knopf was a former substitute teacher in Prescott.
The boy's father was seeking $5 million for himself and his son for emotional distress, negligence and battery. On Wednesday, a Pierce County jury found that Knopf's conduct was extreme and outrageous, but that she did not intentionally cause physical or emotional harm. The student, who is now 18, did not attend the three day trial.
