WASHINGTON (WKOW) -- Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan says GOP leaders are considering a short-term extension of the debt ceiling.
Ryan says it's a way to get the Senate and White House engaged in future conversations.
It's a departure from the GOP's previous stance that any extension must include spending cuts.
Ryan also said Thursday that he plans to attend President Obama's public inauguration Monday.
The former republican VP candidate told reporters it's his obligation to be at the ceremony.
He's currently in Virginia for a House republican retreat.
