Madison (WQOW) -- When the 2013 Wisconsin football roster comes out, the name Curt Phillips will be on it.
Phillips had applied to the NCAA for a sixth-year of eligibility, and that has been granted. The Badger football Twitter account makes that announcement Thursday afternoon, prompting a joking Twitter response from defensive lineman Beau Allen, "...looks like we have to put up with you another year..."
Phillips, after three ACL surgeries in his Badgers career, finally got his chance to be Wisconsin's quarterback this past season. He played in seven games, and threw for 540 yards, with five touchdowns and two interceptions. Phillips also rushed for 99 yards on 27 carries.
It'll be a crowded competition for the Badgers starting QB job, with Joel Stave, Danny O'Brien, Jon Budmayr, and Bart Houston also in the mix.
