OSHKOSH (WKOW) -- More than 100 members of the Wisconsin National Guard are back home.

Family and friends greeted about 130 members of the Oshkosh-based 1157th Transportation Company at the EAA grounds in Oshkosh.

They spent almost 10 months in Afghanistan escorting military convoys.

"It's amazing. You can't possibly describe it. This is the second time I've had to do this, coming back, and it still just blows my mind," said Ssgt. Bryan Nagorny.

"I'm really excited to see all of my family here," said Sgt. Aleasha Bales. "It's just such a good feeling. I'm really excited and I can't wait to just continue with life after this is all over."

The 1157th returned to the U.S. last week, but spent time de-mobilizing at Camp Shelby in Mississippi.

OSHKOSH (WKOW) -- About 130 members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard are coming home.

They've been in the U.S. since early last week, but they've been de-mobilizing at a camp in Mississippi. They'll be welcomed back to Wisconsin on Friday afternoon during a celebration in Oshkosh.

Most of the troops are part of the Oshkosh-based 1157th Transportation Company.

They spent almost 10 months in Afghanistan conducting convoy-escort missions. They were originally scheduled to deploy to Kuwait for a base security mission but they were reassigned after the Pentagon reallocated its forces.

Governor Scott Walker and senior Wisconsin Army National Guard leaders will be among those welcoming the troops home. Family and community members are also invited to attend.

The event will be at the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh.
