Eau Claire (WQOW) - One issue keeps popping up four
months after a traffic switch in downtown Eau
Claire.
The City of Eau Claire says there have been complaints
about loading zones after Barstow
Street and Graham Avenue went to two-way traffic. Some
business owners say trucks that arrive after the loading zone hours still block
traffic.
"There are a couple
of loading zones I've seen be used, but I would say there's also some loading
zones that since the time they put them in, I've never once seen a delivery
vehicle in the zone. I think that really we should just do away with the loading
zones on Barstow Street
altogether, and just encourage parking on the side streets," said Chris
Solberg, who owns One Source Imaging on South Barstow.
Eau Claire police say they've given around 450 tickets for illegal parking in
loading zones since the switch was made. A new parking committee met for the
first time Thursday night to talk about some of these issues. That committee could
end up making suggestions to the city council.
