Delafield, WI (Press Release) - At 10:03 a.m. on Saturday January 19, 2013, the City of Delafield Police Department, the Lake Country Fire Department, and the Town of Delafield Fire Department responded to Nagawicka Lake in the area of the Nagawaukee County beach for a report of a scuba diver under the ice and in distress.
The officer arrived within a few minutes of receiving the call and the male diver had already been found by other divers in his group and removed from the water. CPR was being conducted on the diver on officer's arrival. Fire department personnel transported the diver to an area hospital. That diver was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The diver's family has been notified and he has been identified as Steven G LaLonde M/W 07-29-80 with a last known address in Milwaukee. LaLonde and the other divers with him are all experienced divers. Investigation into the incident is ongoing, however initial indications point to a possible equipment issue.
