Eau Claire (WQOW) - Expect dangerously cold weather conditions in western Wisconsin on Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will remain below zero, while wind chills will range from -10 to -30.
"This is definitely cold weather you don't want to mess with," said News 18 Meteorologist Nick Grunseth. "If not dressed properly, frostbite or hypothermia may occur within a few minutes. This is especially true for those more susceptible to the cold, such as children, the elderly, and pets."
The National Weather Service has placed the entire WQOW News 18 viewing area under a Wind Chill Advisory through Tuesday morning. In general, wind chills will range from -10 to -30.
Grunseth says the area will see a gradual improvement in temperatures by the middle of the week.
"Tuesday will be another cold day with highs around zero, but Wednesday's temperatures may rise into the lower teens," he said. "Highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the lower teens too, still below average, but better than what we're experiencing right now."
