Eau Claire (WQOW)- On Monday, we are remembering a man who broke racial barriers and delivered one of the most powerful speeches in our nation's history; Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It was a proud moment for many Monday as President Obama was inaugurated for a second term on Martin Luther King Day. Dr. Lynn says the inauguration shows just how much progress African Americans have made here in the United States, but there's still a lot more work to be done.
"We still see disparities in hiring and I know that in this particular area, teachers of color have a hard time getting positions," says Dr. Marvin Lynn, UW-Eau Claire's Associative Dean of Education.
There is a local celebration Monday night to honor Dr. King. It begins at 6 p.m. at St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Eau Claire.
