Eau Claire (WQOW)- Below freezing temperatures kept some area construction workers home on Monday.
Asher Enterprises in Eau Claire says it let workers know last week they would not be needed Monday. The company says it does not have a set policy when it comes to stopping work because of the cold, but knew it didn't want its construction crews out there.
"The wind is our big factor," points out Asher Enterprises Office Manager Paulette Brown. "At like ten below, we don't like to send the guys out. But it depends on the wind and today is extremely cold."
Market and Johnson in Eau Claire also pulled construction crews off the job Monday. The company is concerned about worker's health, but also says it's difficult to get equipment started when it's this cold.
