MILWAUKEE (WKOW)-- A Milwaukee police sergeant shot a man while investigating a report of a suicidal man.
Shortly before 4 a.m., police got the call about the man threatening to kill himself inside a home near 38th and Galena streets.
When he arrived, police say the sergeant went into the home and found a 56-year-old man with a weapon. Police are not saying exactly what happened next, but say the officer felt threatened and fired his gun twice.
Medics took the man to the hospital. Officers say he was alive, but do not have more details about his condition. Neither the officer, nor anyone else in the house was hurt.
The sergeant is being placed on administrative duty, which is standard procedure following an officer-involved shooting.
