MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison police are investigating the strong possibility a gun was fired inside West Towne Mall Saturday.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud bang in the food court area. They say a handgun was underneath a table where several men were seated.
The firearm appeared to have discharged after falling to the floor.
Police were notified of the incident Sunday. Some of the witnesses are employees of a restaurant in the food court and stated they were initially afraid to call police.
Officers were dispatched when possible suspects returned Sunday.
Contacts were made, but there was not enough probable cause to make an arrest. There were no reports of injuries, or property damage, and if a bullet was fired, it is not clear where it went.
