MADISON (WKOW) -- Assembly Republicans say they are getting started on reviewing and reforming outdated state rules and regulations.
Speaker Robin Vos says they will start with the priorities outlined by the governor's small business regulatory review board. Those priorities include stricter requirements for unemployment insurance compensation and a one-stop online portal for small business registration.
The lawmakers say other rules are so antiquated, they're obviously in need of change. Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt (R-Fond du Lac) said "I found codes that made no reference to digital devices or internet capabilities. I also found rules regulating film cameras and motor oil sold in cans."
Each rule revision will likely require its own bill, as some will be much quicker to change or eliminate than others.
Committees will start reviewing the bills this spring.
