Eau Claire (WQOW) - Eau Claire County is giving out free park passes to
disabled veterans and prisoners of war.
The county's parks and forest
committee voted last month to give out $25 park passes to certain eligible
disabled veterans and prisoners of war. The DNR already does this at all state parks. A disabled veteran, who
has a state park pass, suggested the idea to the county. The pass would be good
at all seven county parks, plus the tower ridge recreational area.
"The committee and
the county board feel that the sacrifices that these people have made for their
country and for their fellow citizens, it's a small reward for these people who
have given so much to the rest of us," says Mike Torud, the Eau Claire County
Parks and Forest
Director.
The passes
are available at the Eau Claire County Veteran's Service Office. In order to be
eligible, you must bring in your V.A. rating decision paperwork with you.
