Dog park expansion could be in the works

Posted:

Eau Claire (WQOW) - For a change to be made to an Eau Claire dog park, a group will need to come up with the money to pay for it.

The Otter Creek off-leash dog park is about eight acres, but less than a half acre was recently made into a special area just for small dogs.  Now, an Eau Claire resident is asking that a fence be moved to make up for some of the space that was lost.  Since city employees would have to do the work, the Waterways and Parks Commission is recommending the Friends of the Dog Park pay for it.  If the group wants something done and it has the money for it, the commission says it will take up the expansion proposal.

Eau Claire (WQOW) - A slight expansion could be in the works for the dog park in Eau Claire.

The Otter Creek off-leash dog park is about eight acres in size. But less than a half-acre of that was recently made into a special area just for small dogs. Now, an Eau Claire resident is asking that a fence be moved to make up for some of the space that was lost. Since city employees would have to do the work, city staff is recommending that the Friends of the Dog Park, or a donor, pay for it.  The Waterways and Parks Commission is expected to vote at its meeting Wednesday night.
