Possible hit and run victim honored by friends and bar-goers

MADISON (WKOW)-- While police investigate the possible hit and run death of 66-year-old Aryle Dahlke, friends gathered to celebrate his life.

At Murphy's Tavern they shared their memories of Dahlke. They even poured him a glass of his favorite beer, Miller Lite, and saved him his special seat at the bar. Dahlke was recently retired after working for Copp's grocery store. Friends say they'll miss his friendly demeanor and his caring personality.

Jami Phillips (bartender at Murphy's Tavern.)

"It was just his presence and his friendliness and the fact that he genuinely cared about everyone else. He put everyone ahead of himself. That's what we miss," says bartender Jami Phillips.

Dahlke was leaving Murphy's tavern the night he died. Friends say he was walking to get some supper before going home. Madison police are investigating the case as a possible hit and run accident.

Friends say Dahlke's funeral will be small and private with only a few family members. That's why they're hosting a "Celebration of His Life" this Sunday at 2:00 pm.
