Eau Claire (WQOW) - The Eau Claire man accused of killing his passenger in a drunk-driving crash is going to prison for some earlier convictions.
Travis Hazelton has just been sentenced to 6 years in prison for violating rules of his probation from convictions for forgery and other crimes.
Prosecutors say those rule violations included drinking, smoking pot, and driving drunk last July. That's when Hazelton's van smashed into a line of cars at a stoplight on Clairemont Avenue. His passenger, Jesse Schreiner, died and several people in other cars were hurt.
Hazelton will return to court in February on charges including homicide by drunk driving.
