MADISON (WKOW) -- Madison's annual fireworks show "Rhythm and Booms" could be downsized this year.
And some are even calling for it to be canceled altogether.
The local non-profit environmental group "Wild Warner" asked the city to discontinue the event.
The group says there's trash that doesn't get picked up each year and that hurts the lagoon and the surrounding environment.
People living near Warner Park met Thursday night to discuss the future of the event.
In a statement, Rhythm and Booms organizer Terry Kelly said they proposed to the city to make the event fireworks only and reduce daytime activities like the bicycle parade and the "Run to the Rhythm" to just neighborhood events.
