Eau Claire (WQOW) - A former surgery center director who was recently sentenced for stealing drugs now faces new charges.
Valerie Whitehead got probation and community service after admitting she stole morphine, fentanyl and other drugs. They were stolen from the Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire where she worked as director of the surgery center.
This week Whitehead was arrested again.
Police say she pretended to be a nurse at Mayo and phoned in a prescription to a pharmacy, giving her son's name as the patient. The prescription was for an appetite suppressant used to treat obesity. But the pharmacist became suspicious, and eventually alerted police.
They arrested Whitehead as she picked up the prescription.
