Eau Claire (WQOW) - Preventing sexual assault and stopping predators seems like a tall task, but an Eau Claire County board member wants to see what the county can do.
The Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department has dealt with close to 70 sexual assault investigations over the past two years. The head of the human services board wants to try and identify offenders and stop kids from falling into abusive situations. One concern is the cycle of violence in which children who are abused grow up to be abusive.
"We're interested in finding a pattern that proves to be successful in making a difference in these individuals' behaviors," says Eau Claire County Board Supervisor Colleen Bates.
The human services board will hold a meeting Monday night to determine how it can study the issue.
