NEW LONDON (WKOW) – Wisconsin troopers say two teens died in an accident Friday night after their vehicle collided with a school bus.
The State Patrol says collision happened around 10 p.m. near New London in Waupaca County. The victims were a 17-year-old Yalanda Maggio from Weyauwega and a 17-year-old Levi Johnson from New London. Authorities said neither teen was wearing a seatbelt.
Troopers said the car was rounding a curve when it veered into the oncoming bus. The school bus was returning to New London Middle School after a ski trip and was carrying 39 children, two adult chaperones and the driver.
Authorities said three children in the bus and the bus driver were treated for minor injuries.
State Troopers say slippery roads may have been a factor in the collision.
