RACINE (WKOW) – A Racine woman has been sentenced to two years in prison after failing to act while her boyfriend inflicted fatal injuries to her daughter.
According to the Journal Times of Racine, 24-year-old Cheyenna White broke down in tears during her hearing on Friday and says the loss of her child was more punishment than anything a person could measure.
White was the mother of 2-year-old Donnasia Jackson who died in October 2011 after White's boyfriend slammed her to the ground at least a dozen times.
Prosecutors say White waited eight hours to seek medical treatment. An autopsy revealed that the 2-year-old's injuries included a severe skull fracture.
Andre Knighton, the boyfriend, pleaded no contest to first-degree reckless homicide and was previously sentenced to 30 years in prison.
