MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP/WQOW) - Dunn County authorities say slippery roads in western Wisconsin are suspected in a three-vehicle crash that killed a woman and put another in the hospital.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. Sunday on State Highway 64 near Boyceville, north of Menomonie.

The sheriff's office says in a statement that the initial investigation indicates an eastbound car sideswiped a westbound pickup truck. That crash caused the car to slide into the path of a second oncoming pickup, which struck the car on the passenger side, killing the passenger on impact.

The driver of the car was taken to an Eau Claire hospital. The severity of his injuries was not immediately known.

The Dunn County Sheriff says names are not being released pending family notification. He wants to remind drivers to stay safe out there, as the roads are still very slick.

Dunn County Sheriff's Deputies, Boyceville Ambulance and Boyceville Fire Department responded to the scene. Wisconsin State Patrol was also requested to do a reconstruction of the crash.

Upon the initial investigation it appears that an eastbound passenger car side-swiped a westbound pickup truck. That initial crash caused the car to slide sideways into the path of a second westbound pickup truck which struck the car on the passenger side of the vehicle. The passenger of the car was killed on impact with the second truck.

Slippery road conditions are suspected to have contributed to the crash. The Dunn County Sheriff's Office is reminding everyone to slow down and take their time when the road conditions are poor.

The name is being withheld pending notification of family. The drivers and passengers of the two trucks involved were uninjured due to the use of seat belts and air bags. The driver of the car was transported to Mayo Hospital in Eau Claire and is being treated for injuries. It is unknown at this time of the severity of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff's Department and Wisconsin State Patrol.
