Milwaukee (WQOW) -- It might be hard to believe if you look outside, but baseball is almost here. The Brewers pitchers and catchers report to spring training in just over two weeks.
Sunday, the team held it's "Brewers on Deck" event, giving fans the chance to meet their favorite players. The 2013 team will look eerily similar to the 2012 squad, with no big name free agents signing with Milwaukee this off season. Despite the lack of a splashy addition, the Brewers feel good about their roster heading into spring training.
"We like everybody here. We did a great job of leading the league in runs scored and we think we have a great ballpark and a great fan base," says manager Ron Roenicke. "We think free agents should really want to come and play for us. And I think financially where everything is going, hopefully we're still able to get some good players in here."
"I know that we make every effort possible to try to attract guys and peak their interest as far as coming here, but it has to make sense financially and it has to fit in to the team's plan and vision is for the future," says outfielder Ryan Braun.
The Brewers first spring training game is February 23rd against Oakland.
