BELOIT (WKOW) -- The Beloit Police Department is investigating a shooting which occurred Saturday afternoon.

Police say the incident happened around 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of St. Lawrence Avenue and Moore Street.

Two victims were walking westbound on St. Lawrence Avenue when a white 4-door vehicle, possibly a Buick, traveling northbound on Moore Street approached them.

The two suspects confronted the victims from the vehicle.  The victims say they did not know the suspects, so they continued walking.

The driver then fired multiple shots from a handgun.  The suspects fled the scene, continuing northbound on Moore Street.

A 19-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.  Surgery was required to remove the bullet.  The other victim, a 20-year-old male, was not injured.

The shooting suspect, and driver of the vehicle, is only described as a light skinned Hispanic male approximately 23-years-old.  He has a short faded style haircut and no facial hair.  The passenger of the vehicle is only described as being a darker skinned Hispanic male in his early 20's.  He has a stocky build and a well groomed "chin strap" style beard and mustache.  He was wearing a royal blue baseball cap, blue button up shirt and a South Pole "puffy" coat with the letters PF on the right chest.

During the incident, the victims stated the suspects displayed gang signs and yelled gang-related phrases.

The victims have no known gang affiliations.

Anyone with information on this crime should call the Beloit Police Department, 364-6801 or Beloit Area Crime Stoppers, 362-7463.
