Eau Claire (WQOW) - After six months of treatment, a judge says an accused murderer is able to stand trial.
James Olson was in court on Monday for a competency hearing. He's accused of killing his neighbor, Paul Oberle, last summer.
Previously, a judge ruled that Olson was not competent to stand trial, meaning he was not able to understand the court process and help his attorney in the case. But on Monday, a doctor at the mental health facility where Olson was being treated testified that he believes Olson can now stand trial as long as he continues taking his medication.
Olson will be back in court Tuesday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.
