Eau Claire County (WQOW) - An area lake will soon be getting
cleaned up, and today marks another step closer to the start of that process.
The Lake Eau Claire Lake Association
was recently awarded a nearly $200,000 grant from the DNR to help
clean up the lake. The grant will be used to put in an aeration system into the
lake. Now that it has that money, the
lake association can also being other work like installing sand traps.
"We're hoping by
sometime this spring or late summer depending on the timing of everything
getting these projects started. We're hopefully within probably 30 days of
getting all of our permits signed, having all the designs done, final proposals
and bids for the contractors to build these traps, and install these aeration
projects," said Lake Eau Claire District President Tim Pabich.
One of the
main concerns is that the lake is filling up with too much sand and could
disappear. The sand traps will help solve that problem, while aeration will
help existing marine and plant life.
