VERONA (WKOW) -- A local non-profit aimed at battling child obesity is in the running to win a national contest.
Tri 4 Schools was created by Katie Hensel to teach kids to swim, bike and run. It also supports school health and fitness programs.
Tri 4 Schools is one of ten semi-finalists in the End Childhood Obesity Innovation Challenge, sponsored by the Partnership for a Healthier America, which is chaired by First Lady Michelle Obama as part of her Let's Move initiative. The organization is looking for votes on Facebook by February 1st to make it to the final round of three.
The three finalists will be flown to Washington D.C. to present their ideas in front of the First Lady and others at the Building a Healthier Future Summit. The winner then earns $10,000 to help grow their idea.
