UPDATE: Police looking for suspect in overnight armed robbery

Lake Hallie (Press Release) - On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 1:11 a.m., Officer Rathke and Corporal Prokopinski were requested to respond to Mega Holiday Gas Station at 1433 Commercial Blvd and Melby Road for a report of an armed robbery.

It was reported that a male suspect entered the business and demanded money. The clerk reported that the suspect displayed a silver firearm during the robbery. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash the subject was last seen leaving the area on foot. It is believed that he fled north on Commercial Boulevard in a vehicle. 

The store clerk was reported to be unharmed.

The suspect appears to be a heavy set white male, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt or coat with a zipper, a dark colored hat that appears to be a stocking cap, dark pants and dark with light color shoes that are possibly tennis shoes or skateboarding type shoes. The suspect does not appear to be wearing gloves and is holding a silver or light colored pistol in his right hand. The suspect's face is covered with a light colored cloth or facemask.

After the suspect entered the store he walked to the north side of the store with his pistol leveled.

The suspect entered the area behind the counter and walked to the cigarette rack while the clerk picked up the bag dropped by the suspect and proceeded to the register. The suspect took several packs of Marlboro Cigarettes, walked out from behind the counter and walked to the register where the suspect reached over the counter with his left hand and removed money from the till putting it in the bag.

The suspect took the bag of money and ran out of the store leaving at 1:12 a.m.

This is the second robbery in the village in less than two months. On Friday, December 07, 2012 at 12:26 a.m., Lake Hallie Police responded to a Mega Holiday Express gas station located at 2750 120th Street for a report of a robbery. Prior to officers arriving on scene a white male suspect left the gas station at that time heading southbound on Business Highway 53 driving a blue Ford Contour. No charges have been filed in that case at this time.

A suspect description was provided of a white male wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt with a white cloth over his face and black slack type pants.

The store clerk was reported to be unharmed.

Prior to officers arriving on scene a white male suspect left the gas station at that time heading southbound on Business HWY 53 driving a blue Ford Contour. No charges have been filed in that case at this time.

Lake Hallie (WQOW) - Police are looking for a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at a Lake Hallie gas station early Wednesday morning.

Police say it happened at 1 a.m. at the Mega Holiday gas station on Commercial Boulevard, at the Melby exit off of Highway 53. The suspect, who reportedly used a handgun, is described as a white male, around 5 feet 10 inches tall. Police say he had a white cloth over his face at the time of the incident and wore a blue hoodie.

Police confirm the suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. We'll have more details as they become available.
