Lake Hallie (Press Release) - On
Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at approximately 6:04 p.m. Officer Tim Bowman was on
patrol when he noticed a truck with expired registration. The vehicle was
traveling on Business 53 and turned into the Farm and Fleet parking lot when
the officer activated his emergency lights.
When
the officer approached the driver he could smell the odor of an
intoxicant. The officer also learned that
the subject had a valid Domestic Abuse Injunction (through Eau Claire County) filed
against him by the passenger in the vehicle. The Court order prohibited contact
with the female passenger. An open can of beer was also located in the vehicle.
The
driver submitted to field sobriety testing and the officer felt that he failed
those tests. As a result the driver was
arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated-6th Offense
and for violating the Domestic Abuse Injunction.
Robert
W. Loomis, Jr., 45, of Lake Hallie was arrested and transported to the
hospital for a legal blood draw. Afterwards he was taken to the Chippewa County
Jail. The results of the blood test will not be known for several weeks. It is
a restriction on Mr. Loomis license not to operate a vehicle with an alcohol
concentration greater than 0.02.
