MADISON (WKOW) -- WisPolitics is reporting that Governor Scott Walker transferred $40,000 from his campaign account to his legal defense fund just before the new year.

A Walker spokeswoman said the transfer covers work done to cooperate with authorities over the past year.

Those authorities are part of the Milwaukee County John Doe investigation, in which three of his former aides have been convicted.

Walker has not been charged in the case.

WisPolitics says the governor has put at least $200,000 into the fund since establishing it last March.
