Cornell (WQOW) - Firefighters
are forced to battle the elements again Friday, as they try to save a home.
A
fire destroyed a home Thursday in Elk Mound. There was also a fire in the
Cornell area on Thursday, and now another one on Friday.
The latest fire was on County Highway K near Cornell
around 10 a.m. this morning. Firefighters say no one was home at the time. The
fire destroyed the home. The location made it tricky to fight the flames. Fire
trucks had to back up a narrow, icy driveway to reach the house.
"We were still drying out from the structure fire we had yesterday
in the town of Cleveland. Then with the extreme cold temperatures, it made
fighting the fire difficult. Things freezing up, and continuously rotating the
guys in and out of rehab to warm them up," said Matt Boulding, Cornell
Fire Department Safety Officer.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
