Water main break ends class early

Elk Mound (WQOW) - Students in Elk Mound got a jumpstart to their weekend after a water main broke in front of the high school Friday.

The Elk Mound public works department says its working with an Eau Claire company to locate the burst pipe and repair it. The superintendent says the district had to cancel class and contact parents mid-morning, but made sure all students had a safe ride home in the cold.

"We're very cognizant of safety and making sure everyone is safe when they get home," says Superintendent Ronald Walsh.

Elk mound has also moved tonight's boys basketball game to spring valley.
