Eau Claire (WQOW) -- When the WIAA boys hockey brackets were released on Sunday, the Regis/McDonell/Bloomer hockey team made program history.
The Saints earned a number-two seed in the Chippewa Falls Sectional, sitting only behind Eau Claire Memorial. The second spot is the highest-ever for the program, and pretty impressive for a team that was 12-games under .500 just two years ago.
"You know, with our record and a shot at 20 wins from where we started recently, the program has come a long way. It's been a great three year journey. Obviously it's great recognition that brings us into one of our home rinks. So we're just looking forward to that," says head coach Guy Brown.
The Saints close out the regular season on Thursday against Barron.
