MADISON (WKOW) -- Mental health has become a hot topic after three mass shootings in 2012, and the gun control debate has taken center stage in Washington, with bills that include expanded background checks and mental health services.

Here is Wisconsin, Governor Scott Walker announced on Wednesday he is putting an additional $29 million towards mental health services in his budget proposal.

Those funds could to help groups like the Wisconsin chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). The organizations's mission focuses on education, advocacy and support for persons with mental illness, their families and friends.
