Cornell (WQOW) - Students in Cornell and Lake Holcombe are learning about the dangers of drinking and driving through a comprehensive approach.
Educators and emergency responders set up a mock crash on Wednesday. Students also learned about impacts beyond the crash including jail time, a criminal record and victims dealing with memories. This is all part of an effort to make sure kids have a safer spring and retain these lessons for life. "It shows that even the students that are here can be in accidents. It's not like a once in a lifetime thing, it can happen anywhere," said Sara Stender, a 9th grade student.
The lessons didn't stop there. Students are also writing essays, researching and taking part in more events.
