Chippewa County (WQOW)- A new housing complex could be coming to Chippewa Falls.
The Chippewa Falls City Council is considering annexing a piece of land off County J from the town of Lafayette. A developer plans to build a multi-family housing facility there and wants to connect to the city's utilities. If the council chooses to annex the property, it would need to pass a city ordinance creating a new ward. That could lead to confusion for some voters.
"The people will vote in one district for the state and a different district for the county the way I understand it and then of course the 7th Ward for the city," explains Chippewa Falls City Council Member George Adrian.
The council will take up the issue February 19th. A majority vote is needed for the deal to be approved. If that happens, construction would begin this spring.
