Gov. Walker seeks to boost economic development budget - WQOW TV: Eau Claire, WI NEWS18 News, Weather, and Sports

MADISON (WKOW) -- Governor Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin) says he wants to re-establish Wisconsin's fund for business tax credits to the tune of $75 million dollars in the next budget.

The Governor says those credits are important to help Wisconsin businesses grow.

He also plans to ask for an additional $11 million for marketing Wisconsin business and to spend money on an international tourism campaign for the state.

"One of the things, particularly in Asia, some of the changes in terms of visa access has made it easier for foreign tourists to come to America and we want to make sure when they come to the United States they're coming to Wisconsin," said Gov. Walker.

Governor Walker says he's still working on a venture capital plan to fund Wisconsin entrepreneurs and on a long-term plan for workforce development, that will include some changes to the K-12 education system.  He plans to announce details on both in the next week.
