SUN PRAIRIE (WKOW) -- Shoppers at Woodman's in Sun Prairie were able to meet an Olympic gold medalist Thursday.
Misty May-Treanor was on hand to sign autographs and talk to fans. The beach volleyball star is one of the most recent athletes to earn one of the highest honors in the sports world -- appearing on a box of Wheaties.
"Kids need role models, especially with all that's going on in the world, they need some positive influences and I feel that Kerri and I are that for the young women coming up in our sport," she says.
May-Treanor is the most successful female beach volleyball player with 112 individual championship wins and gold medals in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games with teammate Kerri Walsh-Jennings.
