LAKE WINNEBAGO (WKOW) -- Sturgeon spearing season opened on Saturday and anglers were starting right at 6:00 a.m. on Lake Winnebago, battling foggy conditions for a chance to land a lunker.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources counted 39 sturgeon harvested at Lake Winnebago Saturday, with those working in shallow waters having better luck.
Weather conditions are expected to improve in that area over the next several days.
