MADISON (WKOW) – Wisconsin transportation officials are encouraging drivers to pay more attention to the roads due to slightly higher traffic deaths in January.
Officials said 40 people died in traffic crashes during the month, which is three more than the five-year average.
Traffic deaths last year were up six percent from the year before.
State transportation officials said drivers should avoid making phone calls and eating while they're moving, especially on wintry roads.
