MADISON (WKOW) -- After being down for several hours early Monday morning, the City of Madison website is working once again.
The website was originally shut down by the IT department Thursday after it had been hacked. The city sent out a notice Sunday saying the website was working again, but early Monday morning it was not.
The problem seems to be fixed now.
MADISON (WKOW) -- It appears the City of Madison's website is down again.
The city sent out a news release Sunday afternoon saying after a few days of being down, the site was back up and running again. It looked to be fully functioning Sunday afternoon.
However, the URL was not working again early Monday morning.
Last week, Chief Information Officer Paul Kronberger told 27 News someone noticed an ad on the site Thursday that wasn't put there by city staff, so he decided to take the site down as a precaution.
Kronberger says the extent of the hacking was limited. He called it more of a nuisance.
The city had hoped to get the site up and running by Monday. Sunday it looked like it was working for a short time, but it appeared to be down again Monday morning.
