MADISON (WKOW) -- Dane County Humane Society hosted its first Community Dog Day on Sunday afternoon, where dog owners could bring their pet for an exam, vaccinations, microchips and supplies.
The event was free.
The Humane Society wants to hold several of these free events in 2013 and is targeting areas where they've seen a lot of strays.
"We want to be able to get into these communities and talk with dog owners, provide services but also educate them on everything we can do to help," said DCHS spokesperson Gayle Viney.
Sunday's event was at the Boys and Girls Club facility on Taft Street.
DCHS hopes to offer three more Community Dog Day events this year.
